About the representation
REPRESENTATION OF THE SOUTH MORAVIAN REGION TO THE EUROPEAN UNION
The Representation of the South Moravian Region to the European Union arranges contacts and provides information about current events in European policy, presents and asserts the interests of the South Moravian Region within the institutions of the European Union, establishes co-operation between the South Moravian Region and other European regions and promotes the region abroad.
The main activities of the Representation include the following:
- Obtaining and exchanging of current information regarding EU legislation and grant programmes
- Preparation and implementation of seminars, presentations and other activities on themes specific to and in the interest of the South Moravian Region
- Support for applicants from the South Moravian Region for financial support from European resources
- Arranging of contacts between senior representatives of European institutions and representatives of the South Moravian Region in the fields of policy, public administration, science and business
- Creation of contacts and co-operation with other European regions
- Timely presentation and promotion of the views of the South Moravian Region in the decision-making process within European institutions including provision of information to European institutions regarding issues concerning regional policy from a South Moravian Region viewpoint.
- Study visits for officials and students to the South Moravian Region representation
- Provision of information to those interested in information about the South Moravian Region
Some of the priority themes that the Representation of the South Moravian Region to the EU are focussing on, and which are in accordance with the Strategy for the Development of the South Moravian Region, include:
- modern technology and technology with high added value,
- education,
- high-quality environment and countryside,
- agriculture and development of rural areas,
- transport
Current plans for the work of the Representation of the South Moravian Region to the EU are being formulated through the steering group for the Representation of the South Moravian Region to the EU, which brings together key South Moravian partners.
